Herding Cats? Or…?

I’m asking today: How did Moses get such faith?

By faith in “I AM-LORD,” he courageously stood—

  1. Before the mighty Pharaoh and rebuked him—on ten different occasions!
  2. All night between the “devil” and the deep Red Sea as Pharaoh’s super-army threatened Israel’s annihilation.

I’m asking today: How did Moses get such faith?

I think he learned a lot about faith through—

  • Slaying the oppressing Egyptian
  • Shepherding Jethro’s sheep in the wilderness
  • Marrying Jethro’s daughter, Zipporah
  • Having children with Zipporah
  • Working with his brother, Aaron
  • Showing up for duty every day
  • Marrying the Cushite woman
  • Living and Dying

I like the faith of Moses. (I don’t want his anger, but I sure appreciate the I AM-LORD for disclosing leadership humanity!)

My favorite thing about Moses is his close friendship with I AM-LORD. (Numbers 12:7-8; Exodus 33:7-11)

Thank you, I AM-LORD, for the work you are doing inside of us. Holy Spirit! Thank you for your wisdom.

James 3:17–18 (The Message)

  • Real wisdom, God’s wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others.
  • It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced. 18
  • You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor.
