The power of small is intimacy and mutuality. Heart level connections and two way exchange of our hearts. This can only happen in small groups. But it isn’t automatic in small groups. “Love one another” demands small, but it’s not automatic.
It seems to me, as I have observed my own path, when we are trained for years in big group + one way communication, moving to the small + intimate + mutual is VERY difficult. Our flesh was so pleased with the spectating, but now we must walk in the Spirit. Spirit walking is NEVER flesh pleasing.
A billion Amens to this great post, Tim! Yes, small has always been God’s big, and now regarding his (church) ekklesia small is more important than ever. What a great time to have a Zoom (or any other platform you like) gathering! Church attendance as small as “where two or three gathered” in Jesus’ name is perfectly BIG enough, and Jesus says “I’ll ‘attend’ too!” (reader if you would like help with this let me/us know john@simplechurchsuccess.com)
