Prison Guide, John Parker, takes us on the “Joy in Jail” tour!
Day 2 – Today we see that Paul’s Joy and Happiness came, in part, through positive relationships! So it is, when we recall someone and joy comes into our spirit, we probably have some good memories stored up about them that make life more worth living. And, investing in relationships now can reap big dividends down the line and forever!
Today’s passage: “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.” (Philippians 1:3–5, ESV)
Paul’s Positive First Encounter with the Phillipians at “church-by-the-river:
“So, setting sail from Troas, we made a direct voyage to Samothrace, and the following day to Neapolis, and from there to Philippi, which is a leading city of the district of Macedonia and a Roman colony. We remained in this city some days. And on the Sabbath day we went outside the gate to the riverside, where we supposed there was a place of prayer, and we sat down and spoke to the women who had come together. One who heard us was a woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple goods, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul. And after she was baptized, and her household as well, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” And she prevailed upon us.” (Acts 16:11–15, ESV)

Partnership in the gospel is such a power element of the gospel. The good news was provided for us with a partnership of the three persons of God. They offer the gospel for free. God designed the fellowship of varieties of gifts to display the partnership of the gospel to those who have no mutual partnership. They have hierarchies and anarchies but no partnership with the creator or his people. One of Satans schemes is to ruin believers partnerships. We are gullible to this. We enjoy our clergy and laity hierarchy so the partnership of the gospel is not on display, only the words of the gospel and mostly only in one way communication by a hired Bible expert. God wants this fixed. We must not be ignorant of the Devil’s schemes.
Yes, Tim! Partnerships not hierarchies. Yes! “One of Satans schemes is to ruin believers partnerships.”
