Here is another conversation with the Lord from my journal. I hope it’s encouraging to you. Remember to click on the word “source” to see the whole post. Please join the conversation by adding your Comment if you like.

Me: Why do I have so many loose ends and unfinished business?

Lord: How are you evaluating at all those items? Let them be items only. Avoid getting distracted and tugged away.

Me: Yes, look not at seen things: “as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:18, ESV)

But Martha was distracted (pulled around) with much serving—ἡ δὲ Μάρθα περιεσπᾶτο περὶ πολλὴν διακονίαν

Mindfulness calls us not to be pulled around and distracted.

Lord: Yes, John, there is one useful thing, and Mary chooses it.

Me: Me too! Right now! I scoot closer to your feet, my dear Lord Jesus.

Oh wow, Mary was right there, sitting toward your feet when the whole scene and altercation between Jesus and Martha occurred.

Lord: Yes, and she never moved. She stayed focused on my words and didn’t respond to Martha.

Me: Amazing. I want to be that mindful of you and your presence and your words.

Lord: That is happening more and more. This conversation is an example of that.

Me: Thank you for the “hunger and thirst for righteousness” you place within us. It is really for a righteous relationship, open and free and full, with you.

Lord: Thank you for hanging out with all three of us at the Throne of Grace (Hebrew 4:16) located here (in heaven-Ephesians 2:6) and there (on earth within you- John 14:2-3, 23, 27) at the same time.

Me: Thank you for a great visit!

Lord: Giv’m Heaven!
