Cartoon about not know Greek
It’s All Greek to Me!

Feeling unloved and lonely?

Being unloving to yourself and others?

Happily, “God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” (Romans 5:5)

The word, “has been poured” (ἐκκέχυται in Greek), is a Perfect, Passive, Indicative Verb. (Wait! Don’t quit reading! The juicy part is next!)

Here’s what Perfect, Passive, and Indicative mean:

Perfect Tense means: The Love Pouring In started at a point in the past and the results are continuous. The pouring in of love by the Holy Spirit never stops!

Passive Voice means: The Love Pouring In is happening regardless of our activity. The love flows into us 24/7. Like the electricity wired into your house, it is always available. Flip the switch and let there be love, no matter how unloving you feel. Be not deceived, God’s love is flowing and ready—even when the switch is off. Believe and enjoy it. Love casts out fear! (1 John 4:18)

Indicative Mood means: The Love Pouring In is actual. It’s not wishful thinking or just an idea. God’s love is actual and real—now!

Feeling unloved or being unloving? How about saying “YES” to the continuously flowing, always available, joyfully real love of God?

Love ____________ (Hopes? Helps? Heals? Hurts? Happens?). Thoughts?.
