I just saw a vision of Jesus crossing into heaven as the Olympic victor—crowned in golden wreaths; his hands held high in victory. Medals hang around his neck. Colorful banners and ribbons fly from around his shoulders. Joyful cheering roars all around.
And we—all of us who call him “Lord”—are triumphantly jogging, skipping, and running along behind him. We are finding ourselves covered with glorious banners, ribbons, medals as well.
This vision is not of a future scene only. We are in it now and forever, no matter what our current circumstance or situation.
Here are some verses that verify and assure us of this:
- Eternal life is already here: “Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes in the one who sent me has eternal life and will not come to condemnation, but has passed from death to life.” (John 5:24, NAB)
- No condemnation is upon us. Not one: “Therefore, now, there is not even one bit of condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, for the law of the Spirit, that of the life in Christ Jesus, freed you once for all from the law of the sinful nature and of death.” (Romans 8:1, WUEST)
- We are in Jesus’ victory parade now: “But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.” (2 Corinthians 2:14, ESV)
- We can call him, Lord. “because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9, ESV)
