Our Lord Jesus slept while our fellow-disciples cried, “We perish!” Then, Jesus stilled that storm with a word.
So, when Jesus declares, “I will build my church,” (with people like Simon Peter and us) (Matthew 16:18) and, when Jesus prays, “that they may all be one…so that the world may believe,” (John 17:20–21) perhaps the unity is already here in our church, world, and relational storms.
Maybe God “napping” in our church, world, and relational boat serves to strengthen our faith. Maybe everything is not heading-to-hell-in-a-hand-basket—contrary to appearances. Perhaps the disciples-in-the-boat could have just settled down for a snooze too!
Do we have room to be optimistic, no matter how messed up things look?
Maybe that’s the great unifier—our optimistic faith!
I think so. What about you?

I really like this because Jesus knew and believed the disciples could handle the storm they had been taught by the master just as we have so is stormy times so what the master taught you trust in Him and the storm to will pass
Thank you, Dick. I like your words:
“Jesus knew and believed the disciples could handle the storm.”
I agree! Yes, he had faith in God and his disciples, so he slept well!
Jesus believes in us! He knows his “church” will prevail! He was and is optimistic!
